Making Use of CBA
Our final panel, “Making Use Of CBA,” asked how principles of cost-benefit analysis could be applied to police decision-making. How can we encourage departments to be more forward thinking? Is there a role for city managers or even state-level agencies? And how do we strike the right balance between politics and evidence-informed policymaking?
Panelists stressed the importance of thinking more comprehensively about policing’s costs and benefits, and training the next generation of police leaders to incorporate CBA into their decision-making.
