In February 2026, the Policing Project and the Global Centre for Democratic Constitutionalism at the UCL Faculty of Laws co-hosted on artificial intelligence and bulk data collection.
This workshop brought together experts from across academia, government, and civil society to examine the implications of bulk data collection and use powered by AI analytics for national security and policing. Discussions were held under the Chatham House Rule.
The workshop spanned four panels covering AI use in law enforcement, comparative regulatory frameworks (US, UK, EU), private sector involvement, and methods for quantifying and visualising the intensity of state surveillance.
