Carly Margolis
Litigation Fellow
Carly is the Policing Project’s Litigation Fellow. Previously, she was a Staff Attorney in the Housing and Consumer Rights Units at Greater Boston Legal Services. In addition to representing individual clients in eviction and consumer debt matters, Carly pursued strategic litigation and appeals expanding protections for people living in poverty across Massachusetts. She also established a program dedicated to defending debtors facing wage and bank account garnishment.
Carly graduated with honors from Brown University and Harvard Law School, where she completed more than 2,000 hours of pro bono service and received the Klemens von Klemperer writing prize. During law school, she spent two years engaged in community lawyering at the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau and interned at the ACLU of Northern California and the MacArthur Justice Center’s Supreme Court and Appellate Program. Her scholarship on police unions was published in the NYU Journal of Law and Social Change.
