Evan Douglas

Public Safety Innovations Manager

Evan Douglas is the Public Safety Innovations Manager at the Policing Project. Evan’s work focuses on the Reimagining Public Safety initiative and deploying our tool for measuring fair and effective police practices.

Prior to joining the Policing Project, Evan grew up in Washington D.C. and dedicated his career to positively affecting change in his community. Recently, he served as a Program Manager at Georgetown University Law Center in the Center for Innovations in Community Safety, where he conducted research and developed educational curricula for law enforcement agencies.

Early in his career, Evan worked as an educator at Seed Public Charter School in Southeast D.C. Shortly after, Evan joined the Metropolitan Police Department and was assigned to the Seventh District, which served the Ward 8 community.

Evan has participated in several panels and discussions sponsored by the Open Society Foundation, American Sociological Association, National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice, Georgetown University, the University of Virginia, Howard University, and the University of the District of Columbia. Evan has been featured on several podcasts, online sources, and news articles for his advocacy in police reform. His articles have been published in national news outlets such as the Washington Post, The Hill, and Education Weekly.

Evan received his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Temple University and received his master’s degree in Criminology from George Washington University.
